Works in a variety of different spaces; from small enclosed spaces (holes in ground) to open wide spaces (in the middle of a field), and from small mobile spaces (ambulance) to large static buildings (hospitals).
Has a fully working personal gym at home; where she can work out with weights (anaerobic exercises), cardio/aerobic exercises, as well as meditation.
She is a keen user of a wide range of different technologies from her camera to her computer (for photo editing) to the healthcare/life saving technology in the ambulance/ambulance service.
While the overall team is very large (over 4000 staff members within the Ambulance service in the region), the team that she works within on a day to day basis is small, normally around 10.
The structure of the ambulance staff is as follows, with Steph currently sitting at level 3:
Consultant Paramedic/Director
Advanced Paramedic
Specialist/Senior Paramedic
Paramedic
Assistant/Associate Ambulance Practitioner (*)
Ambulance Technicians
Emergency care assistants (ECA) or Emergency care support workers (ECSW)
She reports to her team leader who is a paramedic.
Her workload/job is high stressed at time, especially if there is a major accident with multiple casualties and or due to lack of staff due to sickness and unfulfilled vacancies.
Steph spends a lot of her free time relaxing with her friends and family. However she does tend to occasionally de-stress with her colleagues and a few drinks when she is not on call.
Being a high achiever in school, Steph hopes that she can continue this trend with her training.
Is aware that there are always updates to her training and is very confident in utilizing new skills (the hard skills for her position) she has learnt. This makes her a very hands on (practical) person.
She is very eager to get delve into almost any situation (within her skills set), but at the same time, she is able to ask if she is unsure.
Want to progress up the career ladder to as high as she can, however while she is very competent with her hard skills, she lacks confidence with the soft skills of the job, in particular how she acts and communicates with offenders/prisoners. This has been mentioned to her informally by her colleagues and it has been brought up as an objective in her last appraisal.
