Description: The birthplace of both the Je'daii and the Jedi Order, Tython was once a luscious planet in the Tython System, located within the Deep Core. The environment of Tython varied from mountainous terrains and forests to plains and deserts. The planet's aquatic features were made up of oceans, streams, and rivers, providing a source of water for the native fauna. The world also served as a home to deadly creatures, such as the flame tygahs and silik lizards. However, the dominant species was the Flesh Raider. The Flesh Raiders were thought to be a degraded variant of the Rakata and were abandoned by colonists on Tython. Unlike most planets, Tython had an unusually strong connection with the Force. It was so intimate that whenever the Force was imbalanced, disaster would occur on the surface of the world. Furthermore, the two moons, Bogan and Ashla, played a major role in the Je'daii philosophy, which mainly focused on preserving balance in the Force.
History: The first inhabitants of Tython were unknown, but historians speculate they were an ancient civilization responsible for the construction of the desolate Old City. The Old City eventually fell into the hands of the Gree, another ancient species famous for interstellar travel. The profound Infinity Gate was built years later, by the Dathomirian species, Kwa. This technology was able to serve as a portal, linking two worlds together. During the rise of the Infinite Empire, the Infinity Gate was decimated to prevent the Rakata from achieving galactic domination. Around 36,453 BBY, eight mysterious pyramidal ships by the name of Tho Yor made their way to Tython. On these ships were Force-sensitives from worlds across the galaxy. Once each of the eight, along with the ninth, Tho Yor were scattered across Tython, they became major cultural locations for the newly made Tythans. Their philosophy began to form around the three aspects of the Force: Ashla, the light, Bogan, the dark, and Bendu, the balance. The populace began studying the Force and the relationship it had with Tython, and with that observing how Tython reacted to the imbalance in the Force. With this unanimous study came the establishment of the Je'daii Order. The nine Tho Yor eventually became sites for the Order's very own Je'daii Temples. These temples played a crucial factor in the event known as the Great Journey. In the year of 25,805 BBY, the Despot Queen Hadiya set out for conquest among the Settled Worlds; the other planets within the Tython system. This conflict was dubbed the Despot War and surfaced on Tython. The Je'daii stood their ground, however, and eventually overcame the invaders. The queen was slain by Je'daii Master Daegon Lok, concluding the war. Just less than 100 years later Tython saw the first schism within the Je'daii Order. Known as the Force Wars, followers of Ashla and those of Bogan clashed, viewing their different philosophies as superior. Tython’s surface was greatly damaged due to the major imbalance in the Force and forced the newly born Jedi Order to immigrate to Ossus.
Rediscovery: In the height of the era of the Great Galactic War, the heir to Bastila Shan, Satelle Shan, grew desperate for Republic territory. Because of this, she rediscovered Tython and constructed new hyperlanes leading to the Deep Core. Following the Sacking of Coruscant, Shan and numerous Jedi managed to occupy the fallen world, and eventually became the main Jedi presence during the Cold War. Because of her immense contribution to the Jedi Order, the title of Grand Master was bestowed upon her. Serenity was not maintained, however. Shortly after the Cold War, the conflict known as the Galactic War made its way to Tython. Dark Councilor Darth Arkous and Lana Benkio launched a devastating assault in 3,637 BBY. This was the primary attack Tython faced within the war and was once more abandoned with the conquest of the Eternal Empire.
Sith presence: Following the Galactic War, the Sith Lord by the name of Belia Darzu, established a fortress on Tython during the New Sith Wars (1,250 BBY). Within the fortress, Darzu practiced her unique ability - mechu deru - by shapeshifting living entities into machinery. The outcome of these experiments was the creation of an army of technobeasts, part organic, part machine Sithspawn cyborgs used to attack the Galactic Republic. She had finally succumbed to defeat when she was killed by Mecrosa assassins of the Mecrosa Order in 1,230 BBY. Darzu's fortress did not go abandoned for long, though. The profound Sith Lord, Darth Bane, had ventured to her dwelling in hopes of expanding his knowledge on holocrons. Once inside the fortress, Bane was met by hostile technobeasts after obtaining Darzu's holocron (which contained all her knowledge on mech-deru). However, the creatures posed no major threat and were diminished, allowing Bane to study the holocron avidly. To his dismay, Bane's apprentice Zannah had to flee Coruscant after attempting to infiltrate the Jedi Archives when discovered. Zannah, along with her cousin Darovit, fled to Tython with seven Jedi Knights tailing them. This led to a bloody duel, with Bane gravely injured. Darzu's fortress was then left abandoned once again when the Sith had no choice but to leave the facility.
