Dantooine was a temperate planet located in the Outer Rim Territories. It contained a wide variety of terrain, featuring rivers, plains, and lakes. Located in the Raioballow Sector, Dantooine was an overall isolated planet from most trade routes and had a low population. The grasslands of Dantooine allowed for humans to make their living and survive on farms, as well as the native species of Dantari. The planet's surface was of different continents, a few being the Fields of Banir, Burad Hills, and Arissi Plains. Like the planet Ossus, Dantooine had two moons, but only had one sun. Dantooine was also home to the Jedi Enclave, where many events took place in Jedi history.
Early History: Dantooine's history goes as far back as the reign of the profound Infinite Empire. The cannibal species, Rakata, used Dantooine as one of its many personal worlds for their rise to galactic reign. When the Empire had Dantooine under its control, they constructed many establishments to suit their needs. Some of these structures held technologies like Star Maps and Rakata droids. Nearly 21,000 millennia following the Infinite Empire's collapse, the Old Sith Wars erupted. The Old Sith Wars drove the Galactic Republic to colonize Dantooine in hopes of territorial gain. Due to the military being heavily understaffed and supplied the Jedi Order was tasked with protecting the Republic Colonies. Sometime around the year 3,997 BBY, Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas oversaw the construction of the Jedi Training enclave. The facility oversaw the training of many skilled Jedi during the Great Sith War, as well as Jedi who were eventually consumed by the Dark Side such as Exar Kun, Darth Revan, and Darth Malak.
Jedi Civil War: In 3,956 BBY, the Jedi Civil War was at its high. The legendary Jedi Bastila Shan rescued Revan, who was on the brink of death, from his damaged ship, courtesy of Darth Malak. Shan brought Revan to the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine where his fate was determined by the leading instructors. The Dantooine Council announced they would heal him, but wipe his memories to ensure he has a second chance in the Republic. Once his training was complete, Malak began his attack on the Jedi planet. His assault destroyed the Enclave, as well as numerous Dantooine facilities, including one of the Rakatan temples to establish secrecy regarding the Star Forge. The attack ultimately drove the Republic settlers off the planet, leaving it into Sith hands until their defeat.
Restoration: Dantooine locals began the restoration of their homeworld from 3956 BBY to 3951 BBY. The project was led by Administrator Terna Adare, and the first initiative was the construction of the Khoonda Outpost. In the same year the Jedi almost lost the world to the Exchange; one of the strongest criminal organizations at the time. The faction planned to use Dantooine as another outpost in the Outer Rim. Their efforts resulted in a battle, claiming the title of the Battle of Khoonda. The two Jedi by the names of Master Vrook and Meetra Surik managed to aid the local militia in fending off their invaders, ultimately winning the planet over for the Republic. This final conflict allowed for the Jedi Order to restore the Enclave.
Conclusion: Dantooine was a minuscule planet during the Clone Wars but hosted the Jedi victory of the Battle of Dantooine. The planet was used as an alliance cover-up when Princess Leia Organa attempted to feed Lord Vader false information but failed when Alderaan was destroyed. Dantooine also was a major target in the Yuuzhan Vong War and had fallen under Imperial control in 40 ABY. Dantooine may have been a distant planet from most of the galactic society, but it certainly had its scars.
