Localization: The planet of Alderaan was a Core World, located in the Alderaan system. The core worlds are the most populated planets in the Galaxy, containing the likes of Coruscant & Corellia.
Environment: Alderaan was a rich and abundant world. It’s biomes consisted of mountains, rivers, rolling hills, and snow. It was filled with large bodies of water, such as oceans, seas, etc. This opened the opportunity for the planet to develop a more extensive and beautiful environment. It was home to the Castle Lands, which are vast plains filled with mountains. In the capital city of Aldera, the Appenza Peak was visible. The Appenza Peak was the most renowned mountain in Alderaan, due to its ability to be seen from the capital city of Aldera.
Early History: The Kiliks were the first inhabitants of the planet Alderaan. They were bug-like creatures and some even had levels of Force Sensitivity. They inhabited part of the Castle Lands, building hives to live in. Alderaan was a founder of the Galactic Republic, along with Coruscant and other Core Worlds in 25,053 BBY. Due to its location and fame, it became an early node with the arrival of hyperspace exploration.
Battle of Alderaan: At the height of the Great Galactic War, Alderaan was attacked by the Sith Empire. This would be known as the “Battle of Alderaan”. Recently being granted the title of Darth, Darth Malgus was eager to build an even larger legacy for himself. He was the mastermind who planned & executed this attack on Alderaan. Malgus was expecting a swift victory, but the Havoc Squad of the Republic did in fact put up a fight. A war would ensue within Alderaan itself, with both the Republic and the Sith Empire butting heads for control over the planet. The capture of the Alderaanian royal family would give the Sith Empire an advantage. As a last resort, the Havoc Squad unleashed one final attack towards the Sith Empire. In a forest, the final fight for Alderaan would ensue. Little did Malgus know, he would encounter Satele Shan. After an extensive duel, Satele Shan and the Havoc Squad would force the Sith off the planet, and would injure Malgus greatly. It was a victory for the Republic, and stability shortly returned to Alderaan.
The Treaty of Coruscant: After the Republic signed the Treaty of Coruscant and subsequently ended the Great Galactic War, Alderaan temporarily left the Republic. This was an action of protest towards the treaty, and was executed by Gaul Panteer. The Treaty was a one-sided deal benefitting only the Sith Empire. Examples of this would be forcing the Republic to cede any militants they had from all planets, and to declare the Sith Empire the victor of the Great Galactic War. In addition, it would force the Republic to hand over a number of planets to the Sith Empire’s control. This treaty would eventually set the stage for the Cold War.
The Final Years: During the Clone Wars, Alderaan heavily opposed the creation of a Republic Military. Reluctantly, they remained allied with the Galactic Republic throughout the war. Alderaan was known to be a heavily rebellious planet and they always stood firm with their ideals. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, they would support and allow protests towards the Empire to occur. In addition, they would give refuge and protection to all rebellious movements occurring within their planet.
Destruction: Alderaan’s destruction would be ordered by Grand Moff Tarkin. Billions of lives would be taken, and Alderaan would no longer return to its former glory.
