Hi I’m Frizz! I'm an aspiring game developer with love and passion for games and music. I started my gamedev journey back in 2020 and started making music earlier in 2025!
My game is a roguelite puzzle survival action game. Yeah that's a lot of words. You play as one of the many Test-Bots created by The Facility to experiment with objects and puzzles that contain a liquid that acts and looks like lava (but is something far worse). The games main idea was inspired by two of my favourite games, Portal 1 & 2 and a ROBLOX game called DOORS! It combines the gameplay loop of both featuring portal-like puzzles and rogue lite gameplay super similar to doors.
Funnily enough, my game dev journey started from me wanting to create a FNaF fan game. I was really interested in video games and I had always dreamed of making one but I never ended up finishing that FNaF project. I started with Unity and was messing around with the tools.
I was messing around with different project ideas for about 2 years with many large breaks in between. I felt like I was going nowhere so I stopped my gamedev journey and came back in 2023 where I decided to try to learn even more. After a long amount of time just making small projects for fun, I finally decided it was time to work on THE game I wanted to make at the end of 2024, which is the current project I am working on!
I started with Unity and was messing around with the tools. After a little bit I felt like Unity wasn't the right engine for me so I moved on to Unreal Engine shortly after, the UI felt a lot better for me and blueprints were an awesome way for me to start learning about programming.
Definitely marketing. I am still struggling with it and I'm hoping to do better soon.
I am probably not the best person to ask for advice. But what worked for me was taking my time, that's literally it! Never rush yourself during the development of a project. If your game requires you to create things you don't even know how to, PLEASE just do it. If you really take your time, you can get through the challenges that you thought were impossible. I genuinely thought 50% of the stuff I have made in my game couldn't be made by me, but I just never gave up and kept trying and trying. If there is something that's taking a really really long time though, take a step back and work on something different so your mind can refresh.
I hope I can at the very least give an aspiring game developer some amount of motivation that what you want to make IS possible if you take your time, do things slowly and don’t give up. Even if it looks impossible! Thank you for having me on dev diaries :D
