On a day like this, the only thing Whein wants to do is curl up and doze. The sky is no longer blue, replaced with a wool soft grey. It’s dim enough to set them at ease with the wind blowing their hair gently. The trees sway and call them to be at ease with the rustle of their leaves.
They’re sitting out on the field, the perfect place to take in this perfect weather. They’re leaning against Shay and Haina is on the other side of them. It’s just them, there’s no one else around. Their eyes are half-closed and they’re only vaguely listening to the conversation, responding in hums and mumbles.
They feel so at peace, like the world has shifted into balance for just a moment, entropy gathering with the clouds, chaos waiting to break out. The electric feeling of the oncoming rain, a gathering of energy just waiting to be used. It hums with them, setting their body to rest.
They slide down until their head is in Shay’s lap. They tuck their legs into Haina’s lap. Shay runs their hands through their hair and they are so very close to simply purring. The jacket they have on feels like a warm hug, they had taken it off of Shay earlier. They stole Haina’s scarf too, it feels like a blanket draped over them.
Haina shifts until she’s in the spot they used to occupy, resting her head on Shay’s shoulder.
They continue whispering to each other, occasionally checking in on Whein. They respond only in hums, they’re floating far beyond the earth right now. They aren’t quite aware of anything other than what they’re feeling. The feeling of safety blocks out everything else.
This is what love feels like. Just the three of them cuddling on a field in the middle of perfect weather. Wearing their jacket and scarf with a hand in their hair and one resting on their arm. This is the moment where the world is in balance for just a moment, everything set to rights.
Falling asleep here would be a waste, but they don’t feel particularly sleepy, just calm and peaceful. Their eyes are still half-closed, the world turning to a blurry mosaic as their eyes slip closed. They don’t need their eyes open to drink in the feelings.
The feeling of togetherness is the one that holds everything together. They dogpile whenever they can and it still feels the same every time. It’s always just enough to lull them into a doze, falling into peace.
This is quite possibly the only place they ever want to be. The grass under their feet is soft, the earth calls to them. It wants to lay them to rest for a while, wants them to relax with their friends for a little while. The sky watches over them, gathering entropy in its depths, waiting to rain over them and restore the energy that they are lacking right now.
It will happen eventually, but for now, they rest.
