The cool air is a relief after being inside for a while. She doesn't head home and instead starts walking to the road. This town isn't even that big so there are only four main roads, all branching off from the center of the town.
The four main roads lead to the four sections of town, not out of it. It's a mystery how people end up here if no roads lead here. Most of the town has paths and no roads.
All of the roads lead to the center of the town, a single house. Not a government building or anything, just a house. It doesn't have a kitchen and it's only a room wide, but it has three floors.
The main floor has four doors leading to the roads. It's just an empty room, it's not meant to be lingered in. The top floor is attic shaped and has decorations up. It's meant to be a casual meeting place, where people in other towns would meet up at the mall or a restaurant, the people in this town meet up in the house. The bottom floor is also decorated. It has purple banners hanging on the walls and a message board. Every important notice for the town goes here, although there are never any notices.
She heads to the road directly opposite to her own. There are a limited amount of options if you want to eat out. She's heading to Arina's, a diner. She's already tiring out, but she needs to eat. As she climbs in the car her energy slowly drains out of her. She assumes she won't be a good conversationalist when she gets there.
The view is beautiful as she passes it she's sure. She can't tell because her eyes keep closing not of her own accord. She's very tired. There are trees all around and the ground is covered in plants. There's little else to look at other than nature but that's part of the appeal. She dozes lightly until she reaches the center of this side of town.
The center is a gazebo with paths branching off of it surrounded by hedges. This is where the larger houses are, and is a park as well. The paths have entryways from the hedges that lead to a pond, decorated with stunning flowers.
She heads down the path that leads to Arina's. It's green and purple, surprisingly not tacky despite its colours. The inside has a few tables and booths and the counter. There is an aquarium in the corner and a tv behind the counter. Arina is standing behind the counter, she has light pink hair and green eyes. She isn't wearing a uniform because she is her own boss, and is wearing a magenta halter top and light blue pants.
"Hey Abigail." Her voice is soft and familiar as she waves.
Abigail waves back and takes a seat at the counter. There's no one else in the diner anyway.
"How've you been doing?" Arina is unperturbed by Abigail's lack of verbal response, she's used to her.
She gets a thumbs up in response, as is usual.
She hums, "that's great to hear! Now, what are you feeling up to today?" She knows what she's going to say, of course, she knows everyone in this town.
There's a shrug, and then, "You can decide." She's yawning now, she doesn't even know if it's late enough for her to be tired.
"All right then! It'll be a couple minutes." She heads to the kitchen to make her a bowl of elbow pasta. She has pasta in the fridge just waiting to be warmed up. She gets started on that and pulls out her tomato sauce. Abigail doesn't like any other sauce because she doesn't like squishy things like cooked tomatoes.
She knows this is what she's most likely going to want, she's falling asleep at the counter so something warm and easy to eat will be lovely for her.
The pasta finishes warming up so she mixes in the sauce and pours it into a bowl. After a moment of thought, another few spoonfuls of sauce gets put in with a sigh.
"I still can't believe you drown your pasta in sauce, it's almost soup by then!" She calls as she walks back to the counter. Abigail smiles at the sight of the pasta made the way she likes.
She shrugs at the remark breaking out a small smile as she reaches for the pasta. She tries to look amused so Arina doesn't misunderstand. Based on her grin, she did a good job of it.
She starts eating as Arina turns back to the kitchen to wash her dishes. Normally she would stay at the counter chatting, but Abigail doesn't like talking while she's eating. So she eats while Arina goes about cleaning up.
She finishes eating pretty quickly, usually she's a slow eater but Arina chose well for her. Arina comes by as soon as she does to chat before she leaves. It's a mostly one-sided chat but Abigail speaks a little before she starts yawning a lot more.
"Well, you better get going before you fall asleep on my counter. Then I'd have to carry you home!" They exchange goodbyes.
Abigail continues home in a sleepy daze, yawning every few steps. She looks at the houses in her area that have their lights off and decides that it's an acceptable time to sleep.
She reaches her house and goes straight up to her bedroom. She pauses a moment to change into pyjamas, a tank top and pyjama pants, before collapsing into bed. As she falls asleep, she thinks to herself. She's glad she gets to live in this peaceful town.
