Imagine taking a crowbar to every single thing you have ever loved. Imagine smashing a guitar over everything you’ve ever made. Imagine destroying everything that you’ve ever known, everything you’ve ever held in your hands.
Can you imagine how you might feel?
Can you imagine the wood giving way and sending chips flying through the air? Can you imagine glass giving way under your force, each piece shining the light? The clang of metal ringing throughout the room echoing against itself? The piercing silence following the commotion?
The horror at losing everything. The emptiness as you realize that you did that. You are the reason you now have nothing. There is a void that rests where you used to clutch your things close, and you tore that void open yourself. You dug yo fingers in and you tore.
The agony accompanying it having, nothing concrete to dig your fingers into. There is nothing you can grasp now. Is reality real, if there’s no proof?
There is an odd numbness that sets in. The void no longer feels like a gaping hole where something should be and instead it grows until it consumes you. The void is a cool balm against every emotion that’s trying to reach you right now. A glass wall against violent emotions.
And with the numbness freedom dawns on you. You did this. No one else was anywhere near here. No one else was involved. Just you. You alone, like always, but this time is different. It’s just you, no one else was here at all.
Nothing can be taken from you now if you have taken it from yourself. Nothing can hurt you anymore if you’ve already hurt yourself. They cannot hurt you.
