Celebrate Earth Week Outside By Building & Flying Your Own Kite
What a great way to enjoy the spring weather, gusts, and breezes by finding an open space to try out a homemade kite. Kite flying is also a great social distance activity as you will have more success if you stay 10 feet or further away from any other kite flyers!
Simple Plastic Bag Kite
Materials Needed:
1 plastic grocery bag
Tape
Skewers, straws, dowels, coffee stirrers
Kite string & reel
Watch & follow this simple video to construct a kite from a plastic grocery bag
Garbage Bag Kite
Materials Needed:
1 kitchen trash bag
Tape
2 sticks or dowels
Kite string & reel
Optional decorations, ribbon
Follow the steps on this blog to create your own garbage bag kite, slightly larger than the plastic bag option above. This also has a good tutorial on tying the kite string.
