Design Thinking
Welcome To The Way We Do Things Around Here -
Design Thinking
Revolutionized by David Kelly and Tim Brown at Stanford University, Design Thinking is an amazing process used to design, refine, and problem solve as we look for was to make the world better. After spending our first few weeks in Remote Learning practicing our building skills and trying some projects, we wanted to take a step back to think about how we can come up with a new idea, concept, or product. The Design Thinking process is energetic, dynamic, collaborative, and downright fun. We encourage you to read through the steps on this page before trying out some of the Design Thinking challenges we've provided, or using this process to solve a problem you personally care about. At Hawken, we start with Design Thinking at the center of our work in designing solutions. We have added some of our own steps and special touches on this process too; but this week is about practicing this core process. Just by stopping by here, you're on your way to being a better designer, creator, and maker! Remember, as a Hawken Maker, you're empowered to make the world better. You're designing with and for someone else. You do not have to get it right the first time - you rely on feedback and going through many drafts to ultimately make an amazing final product. And there is no limit to what you can make when you rely on your own creativity.
