1.5 Make A Stamp
Make a Custom Stamp for your own Stationery
Inspired by the Artful Parent Blog
Using a sturdy square of cardboard as your backing, select various materials from around your home to create texture and a pattern on your stamp.
Remember that your stamp will print backwards! So, if you are trying to create your initials out of textured penne noodles, for example, you will need to glue them on in a mirror image of what you want your stamp to look like on paper.
You can use a variety of materials to create your texture pattern. For example :
paper or plastic straws
shredded cardboard
dry noodles
plastic beads
bottle caps
hot glue dots or strips
Attach an item to the back of your stamp to help you hold it; a cork or a bottle cap, for example.
Spread a thin layer of paint onto a plastic plate. Gently press your stamp one time in the paint and then transfer onto your stationery.
If you want to switch colors, wipe the stamp completely clean and then wait for the first paint to dry, if any remains. Then switch to a different paint color.
You can also make your own paint! Here is a link to a homemade finger paint you might want to try.
Fold up your letter and mail it in your own custom envelope!
