El casado para el almuerzo🥘

Recuerdo otro plato típico en mi casa, “el casado” que tiene como base el arroz y los frijoles junto con un  bistec, pescado frito o picadillo. Además, se sirve con ensalada verde, rusa, de palmito y puré de papa. También, se le puede añadir plátano maduro, y queso fresco. Además, si te gusta el picante, este va acompañado con una chilera o salsa picante. Como pueden imaginar, es un plato con bastante comida.

I remember another typical dish at home, “el casado” that is based on rice and beans with a beef steak, fried fish, or “picadillo”. Besides, it is served with green salad, Russian salad, palm heart salad, and mashed potatoes. Also, you can add fried plantain and fresh cheese. What is more, if you like spicy, this is accompanied by a chili pepper pickle or spicy sauce. As you can imagine, It is a dish with a lot of food.    

Los turistas que vienen a Costa Rica se sorprenden de lo mucho y lo bien que comemos. El casado es un plato que se sirve en “las sodas”, o restaurantes típicos de nuestro país. Según el lugar, el casado puede variar mucho, ya que los alimentos provienen de la cosecha local. Por lo tanto, en las orillas del mar pueden ofrecerte más pescado y mariscos, ensaladas verdes y frescos naturales de frutas. En cambio, en las zonas altas de nuestro país pueden ofrecerte muchas bebidas calientes como el café, el chocolate caliente y el agua dulce, y el casado se sirve con carne o pollo.

Many tourists who arrive in Costa Rica are surprised about how well we eat. “El casado” is a dish served in “las sodas”, or typical restaurants in our country. According to the place, “el casado” can vary a lot because, the food comes from the local market. Therefore, they could offer you more fish and seafood, green salad, and natural fruit beverages at the coast. Otherwise, they could offer many hot beverages like coffee, hot chocolate and “el agua dulce”, and “el casado” is served with beef or chicken in our country's high areas.

Cabe mencionar que “el casado” es el nombre del plato típico, pero también el nombre que recibe un hombre cuando se casa. Según cuenta la leyenda, el origen del nombre del plato se debe a que cuando un hombre llega al trabajo con un almuerzo bien preparado es porque está casado. Por esa razón, el plato típico se llama “casado”, porque su esposa le prepara una buena comida.

It is important to say that “el casado” is the name of the typical dish, but also the name that a man has after getting married. It is said the origin of this name is because when a man arrives at his job with a great lunch is because he is married. For that reason, the typical dish is called “casado”, because his wife prepares a great food.
