Soy Óscar, un joven de 26 años que vive en un pequeño pueblo llamado Tilarán. Soy de un país maravilloso llamado Costa Rica. Además, tengo muchas historias de mi familia y de mi pueblo que contarles, pero hoy voy a hablar sobre mis recuerdos.

I am Óscar, a 26 years old young man who lives in a small town called Tilarán. I am from a beautiful country named Costa Rica. Besides, I have many stories about my family and my little town to tell you, but today I am going to talk about my memories. 

Crecí en un pequeño distrito llamado Los Ángeles, el mismo nombre del estado de los Estados Unidos, dónde se hacen las películas de Hollywood, pero para ser honesto, mi pueblo no se parece mucho a ese lugar, excepto por el clima, que por cierto hace mucho calor estos días.

I raised in small district called Los Ángeles, the same name as the State of the U.S. where the Hollywood movies are done. But to be honest my town is not similar to that place, even though the weather does. By the way, these days are really hot.   

Tendría como unos cinco años cuando empecé a ir a un kínder de monjas. Ellas eran buenas personas. En mi país decimos: "eran muy pura vida". Teníamos recreos y siestas después de jugar. Fue muy divertido.

I would be like 5 years old when I started to go to a Catholic Church Sisters kindergarten. They were nice people. In my country we say: They were pure life! (costa rican way to  greet and farewell). We had breaks and naps after playing. It was really fun.   

Luego, yo asistía a la primaria en la única escuela de Los Ángeles. Recuerdo que caminaba solo, desde mi casa hasta la escuela, hasta llegar al aula que me tocaba, que estaba al frente del comedor y los baños. Ahí conocí a varios compañeros que todavía saludo hoy en día. Podría decir que tengo muchos recuerdos de mi escuela, aunque solo mencioné unos pocos.

Then, I was attending the only elementary school in Los Ángeles. I remember that I was walking by my own, from my home to the school, until to get to the respective classroom, that was in front of school cafeteria and bathroom. There I met some classmates that I am still greet nowadays. I could say that I have many memories from my school, even though I just told a few ones. 

Luego, después de 6 años, entré en el colegio público de mi cantón, donde muchos jóvenes de zonas rurales, como yo, nos juntábamos para asistir a séptimo año. Para ser honesto, si tuviera que mencionar el año más difícil en el colegio, diría que fue séptimo porque todo era muy nuevo para mí, tuve que hacer nuevas amistades, ir a distintas aulas, comedores, visitar nuevos sitios y por supuesto, soportar horas de clase. 

Then, after 6 years, I went to the public high school of my town, where many young people from rural places, like me, we gathered together to attend to seventh grade. To be honest, I had to mention the most difficult year in high school, I would say that was seventh grade because everything was new for me, I had to make new friends, to go to several classrooms, school cafeteria, to visit new places, and clearly, to resist much time in class. 

Afortunadamente, conocí a los mejores compañeros en ese entonces. Se llaman Pedro, Hanier y Cristina. Ellos eran súper divertidos. Creo que deberíamos reunirnos algún día, para conversar sobre nuestras vidas, sobre nuestros profesores de ese entonces y que podríamos hacer juntos más adelante. 

Fortunately, I met some nice friends back then. They name Pedro, Hanier, and Cristina. They were super fun. I think that we should get together one day to talk about our lives, our school teachers and what we could do together later. 

Finalmente, si pudiera escoger algún recuerdo de mi adolescencia, sería volver a recibir clases de música con mi profesor Félix. Recuerdo que mis compañeros y yo éramos la única estudiantina del colegio y nos tocaba, después de clase, practicar el coro antes de la presentación en el estadio municipal de Tilarán. El profesor nos decía que vendría gente de todas partes solo para vernos y eso, claramente, me asustaba. Pero, los ensayos eran lo mejor, ya que muchos estudiantes de diferentes grados participábamos. Unos cantaban, otros tocaban instrumentos, y finalmente, yo tenía que hacer coro con mis compañeros de aula. 

Finally, If I could choose a memory from my youth, it would be to retake some music lessons by my teacher Félix. I remember that my classmates and I were the only school choir band and we had, after school, to practice the choir before the performance in the Tilarán municipal stadium. The teacher was telling that many people would come from everywhere just to watch us, and that scared me, indeed. But, the rehearsals were the best, because many different grade students were participating. Some people was singing, others were playing musical instruments, and lastly, I used to play the choir with my classmates.  

Fue una época muy bonita y podría decir que mis años de colegio no estuvieron nada mal. Espero que te haya gustado la historia y que puedas repasar los condicionales y superlativos.
