Henry VIII

Henry VIII is one of the best-known English kings. He was 17 when he came to the throne. During his reign (almost 40 years), Henry VIII united England and Wales, built up the English navy, founded the Church of England when the Roman Catholic Church refused to divorce him from his 1st wife... Since Henry VIII wanted a son, who would carry on the Tudor name, and his queens were not able to give him one, he married 6 times! All his children, 2 daughters and a son, ruled the country.

King Henry VIII was well educated. He spoke 4 languages (English, French, Latin and Spanish), wrote poetry, composed music (Greensleeves, What Child is This? and Helas Madame), was excellent at sports (tennis, hunting)...
