There are two forms of the present perfect tense:
present perfect simple
present perfect continuous
When we want to talk about an experience, we use the present perfect simple:
I have been to Italy.
Also, when we want to tell that we started something in the past and it still continues, we use the present perfect simple:
Ted has lived in London for five years.
Finally, when a past action has a visible result in the present, we should use the present perfect simple:
Mary can't walk. She has broken her leg.
