There are three degrees of comparison ( = постоје три степена поређења):
* Positive (to describe a person, animal, thing or place, or to show that two people or things are (not) similar in some way)
* Comparative (to compare two people, animals, things or places)
* Superlative (to compare one person, animal, thing or place with more than one person, animal, thing or place)
In English, some comparisons are regular and others are irregular.
Of course, there are some exceptions to the rules; some adjectives use both forms for the comparative and superlative: friendly, clever, narrow, quiet, just to name a few.
