Imperative

We use the imperative for:

* orders (= наредбе), requests (= молбе), suggestions (= предлози, сугестије)

Stop! Close the door, please. Don't worry! Let's do it ourselves, shall we?

* warnings (= упозорења)

Watch out!

* directions (= објашњења)

Walk along this street and take the 2nd turning on the right.

* instructions (= упутства)

Bake for 25 minutes.

* prohibitions (= забране)

Don't feed the animals at the zoo!

* advice (= савети)

Never speak to strangers!

* invitations (= позивнице)

Come and have dinner with us soon.

* offers (= понуде)

Help yourselves to some biscuits. Feel yourself at home.

* expressing rudeness (= показивање непристојности)

Shut up!

When we want to emphasize something, we use Do before the imperative:

Do be quiet.
