Orders

To report orders or commands, we use ordered / told + object (somebody) + (not) to. The verbs like command, forbid, request or warn can be used as well.

The doctor said, 'Stay in bed.' --> The doctor told his patient to stay in bed.

The old man said, 'Go away!' --> The old man ordered the children to go away.

She said, 'Listen to me!' --> She commanded me to listen to her.

The teacher said, 'Don't shout!' --> The teacher told the students not to shout.
