The Upheaval is the name of one of the defining events in unitian history. The Titans, said to be the creators of the world, had rules as tyrants over Unios for centuries. Their children, the Divines, watched as the people of the world suffered and lived in fear. Nyrella, Goddess of Wisdom, rallied her peers, and joined hands with the mortals to depose their parents, and usher in a new age where the unitians would be able to rule themselves.
After a long and bloody conflict, the planet was left ravaged, and the Titans cast down to the deepest depths of the Abyss. In the aftermath of this, Nyrella appointed one of her followers, an elf named Ambrosius as the first Contact of the newly formed Nyrellan Church, tasking him and his fellows with restoring order to the world, while she and the Divines stepped back, so as to avoid going down the same path as their parents.
Their final act was to appoint champions to go out and unite the peoples of the world and rule in their stead, as mortals leading their peers, only for a short time until they perished, rather than in perpetuity like gods. This period of global war as these champions fought for their crowns became known as the Grand Coronation.
