Nyrellan belief teaches that there are seven virtues closely associated with the Divines, and seven sins more grave than all others. As a group, those seven are called the Divine Virtues or the Abyssal Sins. They are often paired together as opposites.
Altruism, or Grace, is defined as showing kindness, concern, and compassion for others' well-being, even at one's own expense.
Its opposing sin is Malice, also known as Cruelty. It is defined as a desire to deliberately cause harm, or by harboring ill will towards others, sometimes for pleasure.
Empathy is defined as seeking a deep understanding of others' feelings, and seeking to comfort them in their pain.
Its opposing sin is Bigotry. It is defined as intolerance and prejudice based on race, religion, or other characteristics.
Guardianship is defined as protecting and defending the vulnerable.
Its opposing sin is Indulgence, or Excess. It is defined as unrestrained and excessive pursuit of pleasure, often causing harm.
Mirthfulness is defined as embodying joy, humor, and positive energy.
Its opposing sin is Despair, also called Desolation. It is defined as being the embodiment of hopelessness, discouraging others and spreading pessimism.
Tenacity, also called equanimity or resilience, is defined as calm, balance, and unwavering determination to overcome challenges, inspiring resilience, and bouncing back from adversity.
Its opposing sin is Envy, or Jealousy. It is defined as a resentful longing for others' possessions or advantages.
Forgiveness is defined as letting go of resentment, promoting healing.
Its opposing sin is Hatred. It is defined as intense and irrational hostility towards others.
Harmony is defined as a commitment to building cohesion and solidarity, as well as fostering unity and understanding, promoting peace.
Its opposing sin is Greed, or Avarice. It is defined as an excessive and selfish desire for wealth, possessions, or power.
