As someone who watched nature documentaries instead of cartoons growing up, it was only natural for me to be fascinated with nature and the environment. I continued my nature journey in university, majoring in Environmental Studies. As someone who is more hands-on, being out in the field and conducting experiments naturally brought me into research. Ever since I began my journey with EMEL on marine microplastics in coral reef ecosystems during my second year, my love for the ocean has grown, leading me to continue coral reef research. My FYP consisted of two ex-situ experiments, investigating the attractiveness of different concrete types and textures to the larvae of Pocillopora acuta. For my Master's, I will be expanding on this topic, exploring other types of corals, materials and textures with the hope of conducting an in-situ experiment just in time for the annual coral spawning!
