For the longest time, I have always been enchanted by the beauty of aquatic environments and biodiversity. I strove to seek out relevant scientific opportunities and had the pleasure of working on various research projects with the Tropical Marine Science Institute at NUS, including harmful algal blooms, polychaetes in sustainable aquaculture and seagrass blue carbon.
I later moved on to work as a hydrobiologist at PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency and have been there for 3 years now. My job focuses on biological water quality analyses including the identification and enumeration of phyto/zooplankton, to help ensure optimal water quality from source to tap. To further enhance my environmental knowledge and skills, I have since begun pursuing a MSc in Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainability at NUS. For my research project with EMEL, I am studying seagrass enhancement for artificial shorelines in Singapore.
