After my first dive in 2013, I knew right away that I wanted to pursue a career in the field of marine biology/ecology. My first interaction with this field of study was during my bachelor’s thesis. For this thesis I researched invasive sponges and how they interacted with and undermined corals on the island of Curacao.
For my current research project at NUS, I’ll be studying mangrove growth rates by growing mangroves in EMEL’s very own inundation chamber!
