Soobin Kim

Soobin Kim is an artist from Utah who works across drawing, digital media and film photography. She finds herself drawn to still-lifes so she can study texture and lighting. In this work, Soobin used Procreate, a digital drawing software to express the fluidity of drawing for a screen. By exploring these ideas through a GIF or stop-motion animation, the work reminds the viewer of how simple it is to take a look at the world. We can imagine every complex detail that makes up everything - the people, the buildings, and nature. But when taking a step back to see it’s wholeness, the world becomes simple. Soobin is currently a student at Utah Valley University studying Art Education who graduates in the spring of 2022. She hopes to continue in the Art Education field so she can teach others the complexity and simplificity of art.
