Madison Ellis

Madison Ellis is an artist from Utah who works across painting, printmaking, and digital media. Her work uses symbolic imagery to explore issues of emotional identity and expression. In this work, Madison used digital painting to express her associations between comfort or stasis and death. By exploring these ideas through digital animation—a notoriously labor-intensive medium and one Madison has never used—the work becomes viewed through a perspective of forced irony. While she fears stagnation, Madison used this work as an opportunity to grow and persevere as an artist. Madison is currently a student at Utah Valley University studying art education who graduates in Spring 2022. She hopes to continue studying multidisciplinary art practices while she teaches high school art classes.
