This useful tool from Brent S and Will G will help you compare what you own on Vudu to the entire Movies Anywhere Catalog.
You first need to install the Vudu Catalog tool in Chrome/Edge
For this comparison you will need to turn purchase dates off on the Vudu Catalog Extension. Go to chrome://extensions/?options=bnlpiockcfehbfbdcegahemgmjfkdopc and unclick include purchase dates
Next go to https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/mymovies while signed in and run the extension (click it). If you have a large library and this is your first time running it, it may take awhile.
Save the CSV file somewhere you can find it on your computer
Next click on this link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HCP4XAtw_L47u0hiGLoOxIjmVU_qQlnMWmEwnkWstlQ/copy? it will open up a copy of the compare file. This is yours to edit
Go to the second sheet in this file titled Vudu Catalog - Import in Cell C1
Make sure your cursor is in cell C1
Go to File
Click on Import
Upload
Find your most recent file from the vudu catalog of your movies
Change the import location to "Replace data at selected cell"
Unclick "Convert text to numbers, dates and formulas"
Click Import Data
Wait for it to load (this may take a few minutes, it may take longer depending on your library size)
Go back to the first sheet in the file titled Movies Anywhere. Filter as you'd like. Change the Status to FALSE to see the MA titles you do not own.
Notes: Remember that this is running off your Vudu owned list. If Vudu only has something in SD but iTunes has it in HD, it will show up as Upgrade on your list if you own it. There is a separate tab showing these so you can keep track.
You can also mark them as HDX / 4K MA or SD / HD MA under quality on the owned tab, if you want to differentiate it to show what you own in MA.
Note the different tabs on the bottom of the sheet will show you the movies that are SD only that may be HD in MA, not for sale at Vudu, etc. Again, you can change these in your owned list if you no longer want them to show up. More tabs were added 11/9/2022. You will want to run another report to get these updated tabs on yours.
FAQ on Personalized Sheets
Do I have to run a new report every day?
No, it will automatically update. You only have to set it up once and then just open when you want to look at it.
When is it updated?
Pricing will be updated once or twice a week for this sheet. It may not always be 100% up-to-date, check the other sheets for up-to-date pricing.
Does it automatically update with the movies I buy?
No, if you want it to take away the movies you have bought you will need to run a report and import the updated CSV as before. After you run it the first time, the rest run much faster. Or you can just manually add the Vudu ID and quality of the movie you bought into the Vudu movies, etc tab. Or you can just leave it as is and skip over the ones you know you purchased.
It’s not showing I own a movie even though it’s in the movies owned tab
You probably don’t have it in there as text. Make sure you are pasting as a value and not formula if you are copying and pasting.
I messed it all up, help me!
Just start over and make a new one, it takes about 5 min and is probably easier than figuring out what you did.
It shows I need to upgrade even though I own the highest quality in MA
If Vudu has a movie in a lower quality and another provider has it in a higher quality that movie will continue to show up because the data is from your Vudu collection. You can manually change the quality on your owned tab if it bugs you.
I want it to sort in a different order
Sorry, it pulls from another sheet so you can’t. You can copy and paste into a totally different sheet if you really want to do something else with it but it won’t update in that one.
Can I utilize it on a mobile device?
Yes, once it’s created you can open it on any device. To set it up the first time and run a csv on an android device follow the directions here: https://www.makeuseof.com/chrome-extensions-android-mobile/ and then send me a chat to help set up your sheet.
