Vishnu is known as The Preserver within the Trimurti, the triple deity - which includes Brahma and Shiva
His historical icons include a conch shell (shankha named Panchajanya) between the first two fingers of one hand, a war discus (chakra named Sudarshana), a club or mace (gada named Kaumodaki)and a lotus flower (padma)
