Pretty good explanation (although he does NOT accept that they were "prophetic" predictions) of the Bible, it's original composition, the making/breaking of covenants with Israel ...and their expectation of a future "king":
The Davidic Servant | Isaiah's Prophecies of a Latter day David | Avraham Gileadi Ph.D.
"And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins." -- Paul, speaking to the Romans
The Jewish Brotherhood of the Essenes flourished in the Near East at the time of Jesus. Knowledge of their teachings and way of life was sketchy until the spectacular discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls (1967) , which helped to decode the sect's writings and its prophetic views of the future. (from ~200 B.C.) The scrolls revealed the existence of a mysterious personality among the Essenes called the True Teacher or Teacher of Righteousness, Prophet and Lawgiver (2x people)...
Dr. Hugh J. Schonfield (one of the original Dead Sea Scrolls team members) in his work The New Hebrew Typography, published in 1932, he argued for a significantly revised version of the Hebrew alphabet and the Hebrew writing system, modelled after the Latin alphabet, including a capital-lowercase distinction, no final forms, a vertical emphasis, and serifs.
"...sometimes in Hebrew written backwards, called ATBASH, and most often by the mark of the Tau, an X... passages marked with one of the symbols from ISAIAH are =>
"...it may well be that these symbols represent
some kind of exegetical code"
One should carefully compare these with those quoted in the Book of Mormon" - Enier Erickson
This Essene scholar marking the Dead Sea scroll fragment, must have had a copy of Isaiah 49:8 that read much like the brass plates/Joseph Smith used in translating the Book of Mormon, because the Essene marked verse 8 as referring to the “David” who is to come.
In the english KJV 1411 version, this reference is missing. While, in both the Dead Sea Scrolls and in the BoM, it is still there…
KJV reads...
7 Thus saith the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
8 Thus saith the Lord, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
Dead Sea scroll AND the Book of Mormon reads...
7 Thus saith the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nations abhorreth, to servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord that is faithful.
8 Thus saith the Lord: In an acceptable time have I heard thee, O isles of the sea, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and give thee my servant for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
A theory, backed by Ezekiel 37... This "David, the Prince" will be King over all the house of Israel, not just Judah.
19. ....I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
22. And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
24. And David my servant shall be king over them....
25. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
Ezekiel and Zacheriah both speak of a great river which will proceed out from under the temple, flow out into the Dead Sea and "heal the waters" (Ezekiel 47:1-8)) Jospeh Smith commented on this passage saying:
"Judah must return, Jerusalem must be rebuilt, and the temple, and water come out from under the temple, and the waters of the Dead Sea be healed. It will take some time to rebuild the walls of the city and the temple, &c.; and all this must be done before the Son of Man will make His appearance. There will be wars and rumors of wars, signs in the heavens above and on the earth beneath, the sun turned into darkness and the moon to blood, earthquakes in divers places, the seas heaving beyond their bounds; then will appear one grand sign of the Son of Man in heaven. But what will the world do? They will say it is a planet, a comet, &c. But the Son of Man will come as the sign of the coming of the Son of Man, which will be as the light of the morning cometh out of the east."
