만화 잡지는 재생지로 만들어진다. 센카지(Senka-shi)라 불리며, 거친 표면과 색상이 들어가 있다. 이유로는 몇 가지가 있는데, 폐지의 거뭇한 점을 눈에 띄지 않게 하기 위해, 만화 잡지는 페이지 수가 많아 색상의 변화로 독자가 지루해하지 않게 하기 위해, 애초에 종이 질이 좋지 않고 인크가 잘 먹지 않아 쉽게 열화되므로 소장용으로는 적합하지 않기 때문이다. 즉, 나중에 출판되는 단행본 판매에 영향을 주지 않기 위함이다. 이 작품의 종이는 센카지를 흉내 낸 용지를 사용하여 실크스크린 프린트로 만화 잡지를 재현하고 싶었다. 센카지와 달리 고급 용지이므로 안심하시길 바란다.

이 작품은 앙리 카르티에 브레송의 그 유명한 사진을 오마주한 것이다. 나는 그를 구도의 신이라고 생각한다.

나는 자주 이러한 공상적 설정을 그리곤 하는데, 실제 비율로 그리면 배경이나 인물 중 어느 한쪽이 돋보이지 않기 때문이다. 디지털 작업이긴 하지만, 배경의 빌딩 숲 직선은 아날로그 자를 대고 그렸다. 그편이 선이 균일하지 않고 밋밋하지 않아 좋다고 생각한다.

Manga magazines are made from recycled paper. Known as Senka paper, it features a rough texture and colored pages. There are several reasons for this: to disguise the discoloration of recycled paper, to keep readers engaged across a large number of pages through changing colors, and because the poor paper quality and ink absorption make it prone to deterioration, rendering it unsuitable for long-term collection. In short, it is meant not to compete with the later-published tankobon volumes. For this artwork, I wanted to recreate a manga magazine using silk-screen printing on paper that mimics Senka paper. Rest assured, unlike actual Senka paper, this is high-quality paper.

This work is a homage to Henri Cartier-Bresson's famous photograph. I consider him the god of composition.

I often draw these kinds of imaginative concepts, as using real-life proportions makes either the background or the character blend in too much. Although this was created digitally, the straight lines of the background buildings were drawn using an analog ruler. I find that this creates lines that aren't overly uniform or bland.

漫画雑誌は再生紙で出来ている。センカ紙とよばれ、ざらついた表面と、色が付いている。理由はいくつかあり、古紙の黒ずみを目立たなくするため、漫画雑誌はページ数が多いので色の変化で読者に飽きさせないため、そもそも紙質が悪くインクのノリが悪いので劣化しやすいので所有するのには向いていない。つまり、のちに出版される単行本に影響しないためである。この作品の紙はセンカ紙を模した用紙を使って、シルクスクリーンプリントで漫画雑誌を再現したかった。センカ紙と違って上質な紙なのでご安心を。

この作品はアンリ・カルティエ＝ブレッソンの例の写真のオマージュだ。彼は構図の神様だと私は思っている。

よくこのような空想設定を描くが、実際比率だと背景か人物のどちらかが目立たないためだ。デジタル作画ではあるが、背景のビル群の直線はアナログ定規で引いた。その方が線が均一ではなく良いと思っている。
