I have always believed that lines must be drawn by hand. And because they belong to that precise moment, they are alive—each one slightly different from the last. Later on, these flat paintings ceased to be the core of my work. Seeing another artist cover a surface with masking tape or paint over vinyl sheets and peel them away to finish a piece made me question: can this truly be considered painting? I was left wondering what an artist achieves by striving for a "Ready-made" approach. Around the time of this work, the cold, uniquely non-unique sensation of a piece resembling a manufactured product grew stronger within me. Furthermore, I view the expanded definition of the "Ready-made"—that anything can become art—as little more than a trick.
