Notation system
Notation system
To record how the game has proceeded, we use a notation system. It is written using Lanermic logograms and either the Pemecepe alphabet or the Paige alphabet, but here it will be introduced in English transliteration.
1. Starting point (required)
The starting point is denoted based on the coordinate given below (e.g. PA, PE, ZO, MAI, KIA). If from hop1 zuo1, write the color of the piece (black or red). The same holds for the via point and the final destination.
2. Piece (required)
Write the piece that moves. Example: Pawn, Archer, General, Minds, King.
The English translation of the piece names by our association is chosen so that all the initial alphabets differ. This allows you to only write the initial for the sake of conciseness.
3. Via point
If you stepped over, you write the via point (e.g. PA, PE, ZO, MAI, KIA).
4. Final destination (required)
Write the final destination (e.g. PA, PE, ZO, MAI, KIA).
5. The number of dark-sided sticks
When the sticks were cast, write the number of dark-sided sticks. Note that it is possible to have two types of cast within a turn ― the stepping-over cast (that determines the infinite-movement distance after stepping over) and the water-entry cast (that tells you whether you can enter the water). In such cases, the result of the stepping-over cast is written first, followed by that of the water-entry cast. Examples: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5 3, 2 0.
In regard to Minds
While it makes two moves of a King, the only things you write are the starting point, via point and the final destination. In other words, the square where the former half of the Minds' move ended and the latter half of the move began is never written.
Pronunciation of the coordinates
In the Paige language, for the purpose of disambiguation, CI is read /sei/, XI is left /ɕi/, CY is read /sei.y/ and XY is left /ɕy/. For the same reason, in Pemecepelukupp, CI is read /se.i/, XI is left /ɕi/, CY is read /sei.ju/, XY is read /ɕi.ju/, TU is read /te.u/ and ZU is left /t͡su/ .
When writing in the Pemecepe alphabet
-IA is sometimes written as -JA; -Y is written as -JU.
