Additional information:
U8 stops at this station.
The station was closed due to World War II damage between April 1945 and 3 June 1945.
This station wasn't accessible for travellers during 13 August 1961 - 1 Juli 1990. The GDR built the Berlin Wall, ending freedom of movement between East and West Berlin in 1961. As a result, the Berlin public transit network, was also divided into two. The line we call U8 today, ran for the most part through West Berlin but passed through a relatively short stretch of East Berlin territory in the city centre. This line continued to be open to West Berliners; however, trains did not stop at the stations located within East Berlin, though for technical reasons they did have to slow down significantly while passing through.
