Next stations: Nordbahnhof (870 meter) ← Oranienburger Straße → (800 meter) Friedrichstraße
The station was closed due to World War II damage between 21 April 1945 and 16 November 1947.
This station wasn't accessible for travellers during the period 13 August 1961 - 2 July 1990. The GDR built the Berlin Wall, ending freedom of movement between East and West Berlin in 1961. As a result, the Berlin public transit network, was also divided into two. The line we call S2 today, ran for the most part through West Berlin but passed through a relatively short stretch of East Berlin territory in the city centre. This line continued to be open to West Berliners; however, trains did not stop at the stations located within East Berlin.
The station was closed due to reconstuction works between 2 April 1991 until 1 March 1992.
