The DR (the East German Railway) still operated the S-Bahn in West Berlin. The construction of the Berlin Wall led to West Berlin calling for the unions and politicians to boycott the S-Bahn. Subsequently, passenger numbers fell and the DR had large deficits in the exploitation of the S-Bahn in West Berlin. After strikes for better working conditions and a pay raise; the DR services were reduced and station Wannsee Bahn was closed on 18 September 1980.
Wetzlarer Bahn was closed on 9 January 1984 when the BVG took over the exploitation of th S-Bahn in West-Berlin.
The Wetzlarer Bahn was reopend on 1 May 1984.
The Wannsee Bahn was reopend on 1 February 1985.
