Executive Transport Wing of the Federal Ministry of Defence

The Executive Transport Wing of the Federal Ministry of Defence (Flugbereitschaft des Bundesministeriums der Verteidigung) was formed on 1st April 1957 at the Nörvenich Air Base initially to provide liaison flights to the Defence Ministry. The unit relocated to Cologne Bonn Airport in July 1959 forming as no.3 Squadron of the German Air Force Transport Wing 62 (3./LTG-62). The Flugbereitschaft became an independent unit in April 1963 and was upgraded to full wing (Geschwader) status in 1974.
