While Lisa's blog post was about the desperation of artificial creatures trying to stay "alive" I was inspired towards a different direction. Namely the cruelty of the creator. These creatures have been given the task of trying to stay alive whilst at the same time they have not been given the appropriate tools or design to accomplish this task. Doomed to slowly yet surely inch closer to it's eventual failure and yet it carries on doing its best to accomplish the task despite its creators cruelty.
Another example of this cruelty of the creator is the Colored Sculpture by Jordan Wolfson. Where the creature is dragged around by chains. Doomed to forever be a mere puppet on rather thick strings. Despite this however it still looks at the onlookers, trying to request help from them. Struggling to break free in the only way it can.
Based on these examples I would like to propose Strugglebot. An artificial creature that has been inflicted large amounts of cruelty from its creator and still continues to struggle against it. Fighting to break free from the constraints of its being in any way possible. Using spite towards its creator to fuel itself in its quest to gain a meaningful life despite the intentions behind its creation.
What we could learn from such a bot is the quality of never giving up despite the circumstances, despite literally being created to suffer.
