FIGHT OR FLIGHT
Here I wanted to discuss something about anthropomorphism in interesting robots. In AI's slow process to convince us that it is actually conscious, it is doing anything in it's capabilities to imitate human emotion. Luckily we can give it a head start by designing robot's that imitate our purest of emotions. I think the most basic human response is the FIGHT-or-FLIGHT response.
This robot is very afraid when you get close by. The robot is based of social anxiety and it gets mad when you get too close. This could be seen as running away from danger, the danger being human contact. It gets close when you are too far away (fight)
The Screaming cube was designed by Casper Schipper, and starts screaming when a candle is turned on. Screaming is a good way to share that you are experiencing fear.
Whilst the robots above are inspiring in their own way, they don't quite 'scream' fight or flight. An idea that comes to might is in regards to movement. Normally, when a fight or flight instict kicks in, you either run off or move towards your fear. Perhaps, a robot can imitate this. By attaching a sensor to the robot, it can distingish good from bad, an either run off or towards some objects. Placing this robot in an interactive environment would then create a sort of interactive maze. Here, the robot would run away from 'wolves' and run towards 'dogs'.
