The Profile Object in Architron allows for extruding a 1D or 2D profile shape along a rail path.
The rail is taken from the parent object, which may be:
Selected edges of a polygon object
A Cinema 4D spline
Selected segments of a NURBS object
This makes the Profile Object suitable for creating trims, moldings, beams, frames, railings, and other architectural details.
The profile shape can be defined either:
as a child object (Cinema 4D spline or NURBS curve), or
directly inside the Profile Object’s attribute parameters.
This provides flexibility for both reusable profile shapes and quickly defined procedural profiles.
The Profile Object can now also be generated directly from Parametric Edges:
When Parametric Edges are present on the parent NURBS object, the Profile Object uses those edge parameters to determine which edges to extrude and how.
When no parametric edges exist, the Profile Object behaves in the traditional way, generating from the full parent object or from user-selected edges.
This dual-mode behavior ensures complete compatibility with older workflows while adding full support for the new parametric edge system.
Rail Detail: Sets the detail resolution of the rail curve.
Shape 2D Detail: Determines the detail resolution of the 2D shape used for the profile.
Phong Options: Adjusts the Phong shading options to affect the smoothness of the final 3D object's surface.
Align Profile To Rail: Aligns the profile shape with the direction of the rail curve for a coherent flow.
Align Profile To Ground: Ensures the profile shape is perpendicular to a specified plane for consistent grounding.
Object Plane: Specifies the reference plane for the 'Align Profile To Ground' alignment.
Cap Ends: Adds caps to the ends of the profile if the rail curve is open.
Size: Defines the dimensions of the profile when using rectangle or circle shapes.
Pivot: Sets the reference point on the 2D shape that dictates the railing path's position.
Radius Start-End: Allows for a custom radius to be set at the start and end points of the profile.
Angle Start-End: Sets a custom angle for the profile at the beginning and end of the rail path.
