For February, we kick off with a discussion about Rubrics and how they can be TILTed:

  • See the kick-off presentation on TILTed Rubrics presentation with Dr. Melynda Conner, TBR on TILTing Rubrics

  • See the "Show and Tell" TILTed Rubrics presentation with Dr. Melynda Conner and our teaching colleagues.

ATD Gateway Team Member, English Instructor Colleen McCready, has set up an an interactive discussion to keep the conversation flowing. See the springboard reading below:

This is a great article on intentionality in transparency and problem-centered learning for student success and how a community college integrated into their teaching. Being a minority-serving community college, this study can be useful as our ATD initiatives are directed towards minorities in our school system.

Part of being transparent with students is allowing the students to see exactly what the expectations are when grading assignments. There are many that grade holistically, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be transparent with your grading. This has great information as to what the differences is for holistic and analytic grading, as well as what should be in a rubric for either format you use for grading so the students are aware.

And share your thoughts on the open Google doc below -- we'd love to hear from you!
