The renovation of the second floor continues on with our theme of creating a more usable space for students and guests visiting Michigan Tech. First, The current dorm-style rooms were expanded upon with an increase in space per unit that are already in the MUB. The dorm rooms already located in the east wing of the building remained, unharmed but improvements were made. In addition, the existing bathrooms also remained in their current location. The large ballroom was cut in half to accommodate the additional four rooms being added, but still remains large enough to host large events. To finish off the list of changes: additional meeting rooms, although small, were added to serve the purpose assigned to them. The main goal of this second floor renovation was to increase the amount of space available for guests at Michigan Tech. With the coming construction of the East Hall planned for 2025 this will bring more space for students. These students all have families and hotels can be difficult to get into up here in certain times of the year. The goal of this renovation is to keep the beauty of the MUB and give it a modern take that not only looks better but actually serves a purpose for our ever expanding school.
