The Memorial Union Building (MUB) is the stepping stone to your degree here at MTU, the building where everything begins. Our group was in charge to make the building more proper for the Michigan Tech experience. The main project consisted of the BIM Modeling, Navisworks & Simulations, Final Report, Presentation, and Google Website.
Revit Model - all members
Final Report - all members
Navisworks & Scheduling - Austin & Joe
Google Sites - Max & Javon
Property & Facility Management - Joe
Group responsibilities - Austin
Data for the project was collected through Autocad drawings provided from the school. The drawings provided had no exact measurements so many assumptions were made. Data was also collected from touring the inside and outside of the place. Unfortunately, not all rooms are accessible to the public so more assumptions were made on the dimensions on these rooms.
Majority of the project was modeled in Revit and Navisworks. Tracing & importing the Autocad drawings into Revit was the first step into modeling. Each group member was assigned a floor to model the existing structure and their renovations. The Navisworks model was made in a similar way.
The Microsoft Schedules plan on the left was created to show the timeline of the MUB model which helped a lot in the simulation.
