This project was comprised of four tasks, BIM Modeling, Program Planning and Construction Simulation, BIM in Property and Facility Management, and a presentation in Google Sites.
The Memorial Union Building is important in the day-to-day life of many people at Michigan Tech, but the building is out of date and not suitable for all that it needs to be for. Our group was tasked with making the building suitable for the future of Michigan Tech.
The Program Planning and Simulation portion of the project was the section of the project in which our group had the least amount of experience. This lack of experience created many challenges for our group. To start this portion of the project the group reviewed the labs on this subject to refresh our memory on how to use both Navisworks and Microsoft projects.
Not all the team members had the knowledge to use Revit. For three members of our Revit, it was completely new. Grasping the location of the item in the Revit software was hard. More training in the use of Revit should be required because of its skillful features and complex modeling.
Multiple offices and storage closets cannot be entered as well. On the two-dimensional Civil 3D drawings, there are no exact lengths for walls, windows, and doorways, so our group, in multiple instances, had to make inferences about these parts of the building based on the scale that was given along with using Civil 3D files to find dimensions. Additionally, time constraints for this project have impacted the thoroughness of the data that our group has collected. Understanding the assumptions made through collecting data is crucial to the outcome of our project.

Our group defines Initial Work Allocation as the work completed before the interim report. As seen in the diagram to the left the project was broken down into separate tasks with a member of the group as a head of each task. From there the head of the task divided the work for that task among the group.
Our Group defined Final work allocation as everything completed after the interim report. This can be seen in the diagram below.
