Surveys
Late September 2020 early October
A short survey was created to focus on three themes:
Were respondents' opinions sensitive to which Facebook group(s) someone belonged to?
Had intentions for 2021 changed over the last two months?
When might people apply for a visa
The findings were that
responses were sensitive to which Facebook group or groups respondents belonged to,
intentions were similar to those surveyed in July however our assessment is that 10-14% of people will apply for a visa in 2021 rather than the 20% that was recorded in the July survey,
The peak of visa applications is predicted to be when the visa service opens up##; the majority of visa applications will be made by the end of February and there will be little demand after April.

## At the time of creating this article (October 30, 9 weeks before the end of the Transition Period) it is not possible for UK citizens to apply for a visa nor have the French authorities provided any indication when applications can be made in the future.
July 2020
In July we carried out a survey of the members of the 6500 members of Facebook group Living in Both UK and France. The survey was analysed in two parts which are set out below. The questions may viewed in a dummy survey here

Month of intended first visit France in 2021
Plans for taking up French residency
Whether people’s income will meet the visa requirements

Home Ownership
This report analysed
Location in the UK
Date when first purchased a 2nd home in France
Current value of House in France
Location of present house in France
The average house value of people's 2nd home in France was €184,000. Assuming that 200,000 people own second homes and all are couples then the total asset value is some €18 billion. If this were a company on the French CAC 40 then it would be ranked about number 25 just below Cap Gemini and Legrand SA and alongside Michelin.
