This page will be expanded as sites further develop their program.
- Offer ADA recovery because missed days mean lost instructional time and lost revenue
- Offer as an alternative to suspension
- Offer enrichment and extended learning opportunities for students
- Two sessions per month through year end. In 18/19, we will offer one session per month beginning October 15.
- Send dates for the year to Deb Kubin so she can distribute information to key district-wide personnel.
- Principals will coordinate lunch/brunch service with Jim Stuart.
- Recruit 100 students per session (not to exceed 25:1 ratio).
- Each class shall have a minimum of 15 students with a goal of at least 20 students.
- A minimum of two Saturday School teachers will be hired to run the program so that there are two adults on campus at all times. One paraprofessional will be hired to support the two classrooms and coordinate lunch and bathroom breaks, etc… for the kids.
- Eagle Peak Middle School will run its Saturday School program similar to other secondary schools. There will not be a paraprofessional hired.
- Each time Saturday School is in session, an administrator will be available via telephone.
- Teachers will be paid five hours at their hourly rate.
- It is suggested that you provide four one hour blocks of time. The students can be rotated through four teachers or teachers can keep their kids. Program design is up to the site.
- It is encouraged that sites provide enriching activities at the elementary level and make the time fun for kids.
- Ideas for the program include: 21st century skills, art, project based learning, physical education, clubs, STEM, ELA/ELD, math and reading intervention. Also, activities such as Odyssey of the Mind and other clubs and competitions held on a weekend and supervised by a certificated staff member can be included in the Saturday school program.
- Santa Rosa City Schools runs a robust elementary school Saturday School program. It is called "Elevate Academy: Where fun is created!"

Mail Merge for Creating Invitations
Getting invitations out to students to attend a Saturday Academy can be a tedious task with pulling the Chronic Attendance list writing out their names on invitations and then separating the invitations by teacher to be delivered.
Thankfully we can have technology to all the work for us just by running a couple simple reports and following these steps.
- Download this Excel Workbook
- Run this query for secondary "LIST STU SEC MST STU.ID STU.LN STU.FN STU.GR MST.SE TCH.TE IF MST.PD = 7" Note: you will have to change the Period number to the class you would like to hand the items out in. Or this query for Primary "LIST STU SEC MST STU.ID STU.LN STU.FN STU.GR MST.SE TCH.TE"
- Run the "Chronic Absence" or "Attendance <95%" report in Aeries Analytics
- Paste both of these reports into the downloaded Excel Workbook under the corresponding worksheets that are labeled
- Create a word document that you will use as a mail merge to include the students name and teacher (if you need a tutorial there is a link to one below)
