Design Pre-thesis 3 | Sustainable Technologies
In tropical regions, passive cooling is one of the critical problems that need to be addressed in architectural design. The common solutions which are significantly adopted by the residents is by using mechanical ways of air conditioning. However, such mechanical cooling method involves costs for operation as well as maintenance.
Natural ventilation of buildings can be accomplished with solar-induced chimney, buoyancy-induced wind current through a sun powered chimney channel. Studies on solar induced chimneys results of increased flow rate in actual building. This proposed study explores the significance of a solar chimney in an exceedingly model multi-storey edifice within the Malaysia. Sensitivity analysis and optimisation of the planning are performed by using simulation software.
