Our goal for this project was to reserch the prairies birds, however we were only able to spot a few of them. Our methods for reaserch were our phones and our camera but we didnt capture any pictures of them due to the lack of birds. However we did capture images of other wildlife on the prairie.
Day 1 10/26/22: On the first day the weather was nice but it had just rained so the area was moist. In the prairie we found a spot to set up a camera on the field goal post and capture multiple plots to take pictures. We were curious about what would happen if we didnt find any birds or if they had migrated due to the weather.
Day 2 10/27/22: For the second day we checked our camera but it didn't capture any footage so we tried again in a different spot on the other side of the praire.
We dont have a graph due to the lack of birds and information, but the rate of other wildlife was much higher. During the entire experiment we only found 2 birds but there were a lot of other animals like bugs, deer and small mammals.

At Free State High School we have a prairie that assists in our students' education by giving them a hands-on learning experience. Our prairie consists of 18 plots, providing a variety of organisms and is maintained through students and staff at Free State and the University of Kansas. Throughout its history, the prairie has been used by students to conduct experiments for biology classes.
My group wanted to find out which plots attract the most birds out of plots 7, 8, 2, 6, 5, and 4. To figure this out we set up a camera to view plots 6, 5, and 4 while viewing the 3 other plots during our time out in the prairie. We chose this experiment because we wondered what roles birds play in the ecosystem of our prairie. Through further research we learned that birds are secondary consumers and have predation relationships with small consumers such as worms.
