Art Club
Art Club gives students who are currently enrolled in art or who have previously taken art the opportunity to practice their art skills, work with other art students on projects to benefit our school, learn more about art and art history, and compete in art shows.
Book Club
This is a student-led organization. Students choose a book to read and meet weekly during X-L time to discuss that book. All students are welcome to be part of the group.
C-Club
Anyone who has lettered in academics, an extracurricular activity, or a sport is eligible and encouraged to join this lettermen's/women's club. Citizenship and leadership responsibilities are encouraged through club activities. Activities include helping with athletic events, sponsoring the Costume Dance, Operation SOS, Donkey Basketball, Relay for Life, Powder Puff Football, Buff-Puff Volleyball, Senior-Faculty Games, and providing scholarships to seniors.
Drama Department
All students at CHS are eligible to try out for a part or serve on a crew for the all-school plays presented each semester. All actors and crew members must maintain the same eligibility standards required of the athletes. Parental permission is also required. At leas two major productions will be presented each school year. A minimum of one musical will be produced biannually. Besides acting and/or singing, students will be responsible for work on publicity, set, props, costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, and other crews as needed. Students can letter in drama upon their active participation in the shows each year, earning points for participation. Drama students are eligible to join the International Thespian Society.
Electrorally
Students who are part of the electrorally team research, design, build, and race electric go carts in competitions against other high schools in the spring. Throughout the year, students collaborate with community sponsors to raise funds, create publicity, and problem solve various challenges that arise in the building and care of the cars.
Speech and Drama (Forensics)
All CHS students who are academically eligible may participate on the forensics team during spring semester. The team will compete on Saturdays and some week nights during spring semester. Students can compete in various speaking, acting, and interpretation events (i.e. informative speaking, duet acting, solo acting, interpretation of prose.) It is strongly advised that students first enroll in the forensics class in order to understand the events and competition guidelines. Students not enrolled in the forensics class may compete if they have approval from the coaches and have proven they are ready with adequate practice with one of the coaches. In order to letter in forensics, out-of-class participants must compete in the minimum required tournaments and qualify and compete at state festival or at state championships.
KAY Club
Kay Club (The Kansas Association for Youth) is a service organization with an emphasis on character and leadership building. KAY Club is open to all students, and most meetings and activities are held during school hours. The Clearwater High School KAY Club is led by a Board, elected annually by members, and is directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. This organization provides students an opportunity to learn to assume their citizenship responsibilities and to enrich the lives of others through projects, programs, and parties. Programs are meant to educate, inspire, and direct members into service projects. These projects emphasize four areas of service – school, community, nation, and world. Two conferences, one specifically for the Board, and one for all members, take place each year.
National Honor Society
The purpose of NHS is to promote and encourage scholarship, service, leadership, and character. To be considered for membership a student must be at least a second semester sophomore, have at least a 3.75 cumulative grade point average, complete a Student Activity Information Form detailing activities, honors, and courses taken, and submit a letter of reference. Students meeting the requirements are rated on scholarship, service, leadership, and character by a five-member faculty council. Those selected by the council are inducted into NHS in the spring. NHS is a service organization that sponsors such activities as welcoming new students, adopting a family at Christmas, organizing and working the bloodmobile, and helping with other school activities and service projects.
National FFA Organization
Clearwater FFA is a dynamic youth organization that prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA is an intra-curricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. There are over 20 Career Development Events (contests) that students can compete in. In addition, FFA members spend valuable time traveling to state and national conventions and events. Members will also be involved in activities that focus on growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Students are eligible to join Clearwater FFA if they are enrolled in or have previously taken an Agricultural Education course in high school.
Scholars’ Bowl
This is an academic student organization. Students who sign up will periodically compete (usually Saturdays) with Scholars’ Bowl teams from other schools in a competitive question/answer game format. Students can letter in Scholars’ Bowl.
Student Council
This is the student leadership organization for Clearwater High School. Each class elects four Student Council representatives. In the spring, Stuco officers are elected by the entire student body after candidates campaign for the office they are seeking. Activities include sponsoring homecoming, Season of Sharing, school dances and royalty elections, and providing scholarships to seniors.
Seatbelts Are For Everyone/Students Against Destructive Decisions
The S.A.F.E./S.A.D.D. organization was established in Clearwater in 1987. This organization is open to all student body members. Many activities are planned and participated in year-round by members, including winter royalty, Red Ribbon Week, and other events. An annual scholarship is awarded to a senior.
Fellowship of Christian Students
Students involved in FCS meet once a week before school for a time of worship and praise. Meetings provide an opportunity for fellowship and support through student-lead programs and discussions. All CHS students are welcome.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
FCCLA is a student led organization through the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) department. Students are eligible to join if they are currently enrolled in or have previously taken a class in the FCS department. FCCLA is a district, state and national level organization with meetings and competitions held at each level. Members will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills by planning and carrying out projects within the school, community or their personal life and take those projects to competitions. District meetings are held in October and February, state meetings are held in August and April, and national meetings are held in November and June/July each year. FCCLA is an opportunity to be involved in community and school service projects, develop and improve leadership and communication skills as well as represent the school on a state and national level.
The following sports are available for Clearwater High School students: football, cross country, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, cheerleading, softball, baseball, track, golf, dance team, and flag team. Soccer, swimming, diving and bowling will be offered through a KSHSAA cooperative agreement when Campus High School allows our students to participate.
