Computer Applications I (9-12) (One semester)
Students will demonstrate competencies on Microsoft Word and Excel. Students will be given the opportunity to become Microsoft Office Specialist Certified in Word and Excel. This is a skill that can be listed on a job application or resume. Basic computer terminology, networking, and use of Windows will be emphasized. Comparison and navigation of the Office platform versus the Google platform will also be made.
Computer Graphics (9-12) (One semester)
(Prerequisite: Computer Applications I)
Show off your artistic side using technology. Students will learn to create a variety of computer generated graphics. With the use of programs such as Photoshop, Premiere, and Maya, students will have the opportunity to create and enhance digital graphics and videos using professional grade software. This course can be taken for fine arts credit.
Graphic Design (10-12) (One semester)
(Prerequisite: Computer Graphics)
This course explores combining graphics and text to communicate an effective message in the design of logos, graphics, brochures, flyers, advertisements, business forms, newspapers, posters, signs, billboards, and any other type of visual communication for the world of graphic design and advertising. Students will learn the principles of page layout and the elements of design. This course can be taken for fine arts credit.
Web Page Design (10-12) (One semester) (Prerequisite: Computer Graphics)
Ever wonder why some webpages keep your attention and others lose it? Use Google Site and CSS to create static and interactive webpages to be displayed on multiple sizes of screens. Students will also be introduced to layout practices such as use of graphics, text, white space, contrast, alignment, and more. Take this class to learn to create professional, functional, and unique websites. This course can be taken for a high school fine arts credit. Juniors and Seniors may take this course for college credit. This course may be taken for college credit (11-12).
