Students will be classified by the number of years in high school – first year: Freshman, second year: Sophomore, third year: Junior, fourth year: Senior. Students must have at least the following number of credits at the beginning of the school year to be on track for graduation:
Senior: 17.5 Junior: 9
Students shall attend eight semesters and be enrolled full time each semester. Senior release time is available second semester for seniors who do not require a full schedule to meet graduation requirements or to be eligible to participate in KSHSAA activities.
Seniors must be within 3.75 credits of completing graduation requirements at the end of the first semester of the senior year. Students who do not meet this requirement and who are not enrolled in courses outside the regular school day for the purpose of meeting graduation requirements will no longer be considered seniors as far as graduation activities are concerned. Any coursework taken outside the regular school day must be completed by April 15.
Students transferring from a school offering 8.5 or more credits per year will be required to complete the same credit requirements as Clearwater High School students. Students transferring from a school offering less than 8.5 credits per year may have requirements adjusted accordingly.
