Genevieve Melton-Meaux, MD, PhD

Professor

Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery

Research Vision:

Dr. Melton-Meaux's research focuses on the development and application of informatics techniques and data analytics to transform and provide higher value clinical care. She serves as Director of the Center for Learning Health System Sciences, which focuses on creating value in health delivery systems by leveraging existing evidence, gathering new knowledge, and applying this work into direct population health action. She co-leads the Natural Language Processing / Information Extraction (NLP/IE) Program, a team of investigators, researchers, developers, and students who use NLP to process, extract, and encode information from unstructured biomedical and clinical texts. At M Health Fairview, she also leads the Optimal Care program which includes population health, clinical variation reduction including care maps and guidelines, and value-based care.

Research Areas:

  • Learning health systems

  • Clinical and research informatics
